Dr. Freitas is dually boarded by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is actively engaged in the practice of both clinical psychiatry and medicine. She has been qualified and testified as an expert witness in the states of NY and VA.

 

Dr. Freitas serves on the Council of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, in addition to also being an active member of several committees: Addiction, Law Enforcement Liaison, Forensic Services Liaison and a founding member of the Women's Committee.

 

Dr. Freitas' past experiences include working as a Medical Attending providing emergency services, as a Telepsychiatrist providing addiction services, as well as serving on Quality, Housestaff, Advocacy and Ethics Committees.  

 

​D. Freitas is also an active member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences where she has presented at national conferences.
